TM5-6115-593-34NAVFAC P-8-631-34TO-35C2-3-463-2lockwashers (1) and remove pilot relay (6).Separate the solenoid switch (36) from thelever housing (37).(4) Remove six screws (54) andlockwashers (55), and remove thecommutator end frame (61) with associatedparts, and the plate assembly (65).(5) Remove three screws (9) andremove the nose housing (16) and driveassembly (25) and associated parts.(6) Remove screws (26) and washers(27) and remove the lever housing (37) andassociated parts.(7) Remove nuts (92 and 94), andwashers (93, 95, and 96).(8) Remove the pole shoe screws(90), pole shoes (91), field coil (99), andarmature (89).e.Cleaning.(1)Blow out all dirt inside field frame andwipe interior with a clean cloth.CAUTIONDonotsubmergearmature,fieldcoils,solenoids or clutch drive in solvent.(2) Clean field coils and framethoroughly with a cloth dampened withcleaning solvent, Federal Specification P-D-680. Be careful not to damage protectiveinsulation and fungus coating. Drythoroughly with compressed air.(3) Remove loose particles fromarmature with compressed air and wipe witha clean cloth dampened with cleaningsolvent. Clean commutator lightly with No.00 sandpaper and remove all traces of dustwith lowpressure compressed air.(4) Clean brush holders and springswith a brush and cleaning solvent, FederalSpecification P-D-680, and dry themthoroughly with compressed air. Cleaninsulation and plate with a clean clothdampened with cleaning solvent and drycompressed air.(5) Clean solenoid relay assemblyparts with a clean cloth dampened withcleaning solvent, Federal Specification P-D-680, and dry with low-pressurecompressed air.(6) Clean brushes with a clean, drycloth only. Do not permit cleaning solventto come in contact with the brushes.f.Inspection.(1) Inspect drive assembly pinion forchipped or badly worn teeth. Replaceassembly if defective.(2) Inspect internal splines in driveassembly shell for cracked, chipped, orbroken condition. Replace drive assemblyif defective.(3) Inspect coil terminal lugs fordamaged threads.(4) Check brushes for excessivewear. If any brush is less than 3/8 inch (9.5mm) long, the complete set of brushesshould be replaced.(5) Inspect if the armaturecommutator is worn, dirty, out of round, orhas high insulation resistance. Clean oroverhaul the armature as necessary.(6) Inspect gaskets and O-rings fordamaged or worn condition. Replace asnecessary.g.ArmatureTest.
