NOTE
Final installation of the flywheel into
the seal is blind, therefore, extreme
care must be exercised to prevent
crimping or cutting the sealing lip
of the seal when installing the fly-
wheel.

Install flywheel housing on cylinder block
and tighten securing capscrews to a torque of
73 foot-pounds.
Install oil pan capscrews to fly-
wheel housing and tighten them to a torque of 28 to
33 foot-pounds.

Press new wear sleeve onto flywheel flange.
DO not use lubricant or sealer Metal-to-metal con-
tact is necessary for proper heat transfer.

Install the ring gear onto the flywheel by
Uniformly heating the gear to 300° F (dull red heat
visible in the dark).
Then, press ring gear onto the
flywheel which is at room temperature.
NOTE
DO not overheat the ring gear to a
bright red. This will destroy the
temper of the gear.

Drive gear down tight against the shoulder
of the flywheel.
Allow the ring gear to cool slowly,
do not cool with water.
