TM 5-6115-593-34NAVFAC P-8-631-34TO-35C2-3-463-2c.Procedure(1)Preparation for test. Connect the loadand field instrumentation in accordancewith the applicable figure of MIL-HDBK-705, Method 205.1., paragraph 205.1.10.(2)Test.(a)Start and operate the generator setand allow it to stabilize at ratedload, rated voltage, and ratedfrequency. During this period, readings of the load and fieldinstrumentation shall be recorded atminimum intervals of 10 minutes. Ifnecessary, adjustments to the load, voltage, and frequency may bemade to maintain rated load atrated voltage and rated frequency. However, adjustments available tothe operator, specificallyadjustments to voltage andfrequency adjust devices.Adjustments to the load, voltage orfrequency shall be noted on thestabilization data sheet.Stabilization will be considered tohave occurred when fourconsecutive voltage and currentreadings of the exciter field eitherremain unchanged or have onlyminor variations about anequilibriumcondition with noevident continued increase ordecrease in value after the lastload, voltage, or frequencyadjustment has been made.(b)No further adjustments shall bemade to any set control for theremainder of this test except for thecontrol panel frequency adjustdevice.(c)For each of the conditions in thefollowing steps allow approximately2 minutes between each adjustmentand the subsequent instrumentreadings.(d)Adjust the generator set frequencyfor the specified minimumfrequency at rated load. Read andrecord all instrument readings.(e)Reduce the load to zero.(f)Adjust the generator set frequencyfor the maximum attainablefrequency. Read and record allinstrument readings. If the over-frequency or overspeed protectiondevice actuates, read and record allinstrument readings just prior to thepoint of actuation and note on thedata sheet that the protectiondevice actuated.NOTEThis step is not applicable togenerator sets having governorsthat utilize a threaded shaft andlocknut(s) or other mechanicalmeans as a method of operatorspeed adjustment.(g)Adjust the generator set frequencyfor the minimum attainablefrequency. Read and record allinstrument readings.(h)Repeat 16-16c(1) and 16-16c(2)(a)through (e) for each frequency.d.Results.The data sheet shall show themaximum and minimum frequencies attained atrated load, the maximum and minimumattainable frequencies at no load and actuationof the protection devices (if applicable).Compare these results with the requirements oftable 16-1.16-13
