The electric hydraulic governingsystem controls the engine speed, either independently, inparallel with other sets, or with commercial power.Components of the system include the electronicgovernor controller A106, and the hydraulic governoractuator. The governor actuator is a proportional actuatorwith a backup centrifugal governor. The actuator has atransducer which directs oil pressure to actuate the fuelcontrol mechanism on the engine. The governor actuatorhas two major sections, the electric governor section, andthe centrifugal governor section.12-2.TEST. The following test is required after repairor overhaul using a test stand.a.RecommendedTools. Recommended tools arelisted in tables 2-1 and 12-1.shown in figure 12-1, to hold speed adjustment screw.(4) Turn spring seat (56, figure 12-3) until the pilotvalve plunger for the actuator gently bottoms, then back off two turns. Screw spring seat screw(56) until actuator's power piston (152, figure12-3) is all the way up, eliminating interferencefrom the actuator.(5) Check pointer alignment with maximum positionon dial plate by rotating terminal shaft in theincrease fuel direction until the power piston is allthe way up.Table 12-1. PreliminarySteps. (See figures 12-1, 12-2, 12-3and 12-4.)(1)Mount unit on test stand andconnect oil inlet, pump pressure and drainconnections (see figure 12-4). A minimumoil pressure of 5 psi (0.07 kg/cm2) at atemperature of 140 to 150°F (60 to 66°C) isrequired.(2)Drive the unit in the normalclockwise direction of rotation.(3)Remove cover (13, figure 12-3)and use adapter plateNOTEThis is important since the unit operatesbelow minimum position due to the linkagearrangement between the actuator andgovernor. The unit becomes unstable whenoperated below minimum. This check of thedial plate and pointer position insures thatthe unit is operating in its correct range.(6)Surge the unit by setting speeddroop to zero and opening needle valve(92). Zero speed droop is set when the pinon bracket (32) is on a centerline12-1
