OPERATOR/CREW TROUBLESHOOTINGMALFUNCTIONTEST OR INSPECTIONCORRECTIVE ACTION1.ENGINE FAILS TO CRANK OR CRANKS SLOWLY WHEN MASTER SWITCH IS MOVED TO START.Step 1.Check BATTERY CHRG AMPS and BATTERY CHRG VOLTSmeters on Engine Control Panel. Current and voltage readingshould be within 0 and 2 and 22 to 26, respectively.If readings are within limits indicated, refer malfunction to nexthigher level of maintenance. If not proceed to steps 2, 3, and 4,as required.Step 2.Check for defective, corroded, or loosebattery cables and battery terminals.If cables or terminals are defective, refer to next highermaintenance for repair. Step 3. Check electrolyte level ofbatteries. Level should be at bottom of fill hole for each batterycell.If necessary add distilled or clean water torequired level.Step 4Check OVER CRANK indicator lamp. If lit, wait until light goes outand try cranking again. If light is lit and will not go out, refermalfunction to next higher level of maintenance.2.ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START.Step 1.Visually check for closed air boxes.Manually reset to open position if required.Step 2.Inspect air cleaner assembly for excessive dirt.If excessive dirt is present, refer to next highermaintenance replacement.Step 3.Inspect all fuel lines and fittings for leaks, loose connections, andany signs of obvious damage.If fuel lines or fittings are loose or damaged, refer to next highermaintenance for replacement.3-6
