Unpacking must be performed by unit level maintenance personnel.2-3.2 Installation Instructions.2-3.2.1 Positioning Power Unit. Position the equipment at the worksite as follows:NOTEThere will be two units for the Power Plant AN/MJQ-40. This proceduremust be performed on each unit and trailer. The two units must be posi-tioned to allow the interconnection of the supplied cables.a.Select an area as level as possible to install equipment.b.When installing the power plant, locate the two power units side by side as shown in figure 2-3.c.Set the trailer handbrakes and lower trailer support devices. Refer to TM 9-2330-205-14&P fordetailed installation of trailer.d. Remove fire extinguisher from bracket. Locate fire extinguisher on ground away from equipment.2-3.3 Grounding of Generator Set. Ground the equipment in accordance with Army Field ManualFM 20-31. Typical ground rod installations are shown in figure 2-4. If a ground rod is used, install andconnect it as follows:NOTEThe Power Plant AN/MJQ-40 consists of two power units. One ground rodmust be installed for each power unit.a.Remove ground rod, grounding strap, and slide hammer (figure 2-5) from accessory box. Performassembly steps (1) through (4).WARNINGImpact disk must be tightened to end of threads on rod. Also, lock washerand nut must be tightened firmly against impact disk. Failure to observethis warning could result in severe personal injury and/or death anddamage to the equipment.NOTEThe terminal lug supplied with the ground rod is too small.
