Single Unit Operating Proceduresa.StartingthePU794/GFromtheRemoteControlUnit(1) Perform before operation PMCS.(2) Ensure the PU 794/G has beencabled for single unit operation accord-ing to paragraph 2-3.b.(3) Using the remote control unitfor SET No. 1 (Figure 2-2), place theENGINE switch in the START position andhold until the ENG RUNNING light isilluminated for five seconds.Releasethe switch.NOTEIf the ENG RUNNING light doesnot illuminate in 15 seconds,place the ENGINE switch in theSTOP position. Wait at least15 seconds before attemptingto start again. Attempt totwo more times. If the unitfails to start, refer totroubleshooting procedures.NOTEWhen the PARALLEL OPERATION/SINGLE UNIT OPERATION switchis in the PARALLEL OPERATIONposition, hold the BATTLESHORT switch in the ONposition until the CONTACTORCLOSED light illuminates.(4) Hold the CONTACTOR switch inthe CLOSE position until the CONTACTORCLOSED light illuminates. Release theswitch.(5) Frequency can be adjusted byusing the FREQ ADJUST control on theremote control unit while another personis watching the frequency meter on thepower unit.b.StoppingthePU794/GFromtheRemote Control Unit.(1) Place the CONTACTOR switch inthe OPEN position.(2) Allow the PU 794/G to operatefor 3 minutes with no load applied.(3) Place the ENGINE switch inthe STOP position.(4) Perform after operation PMCS.c.Starting-Operating-StoppingPU794/UFromtheGeneratorSetControls.Hearing protection is requiredwhen working in the area of thePU 794/G when engine is runningwith access doors open.Failure to do so could resultin hearing loss.(1) Perform before operation PMCS.(2) Ensure PU 794/G has been cabledfor single unit operation according toparagraph 2-3.b.(3) Remove one end of the 5-foot(1.52 meters) control cable from thecontrol connector on the connector plate.(4) Remove the shorting plug fromthe storage shorting-connector on theconnector place.(5) Connect the shorting plug inthe control connector on the connectorplate.(6) Refer to the operating platelocated on the inside of the generatorcontrol right door panel for starting-operating-stopping the PU 794/G.(7) After stopping generator,remove shorting plug from the controlconnector of the connector plate.(8) Install shorting plug in thestorage shorting-connector on the con-nector plate.(9) Install free end of 5-foot(1.52 meters) control cable in the con-trol connector of the connector plate.2-16
