Inspect water manifold (figure 4-58)for corrosion, leaks, loose bolts, dents, andcracks.b.Replacement.(1) Disconnect water inlet and outletconnections.(2) Remove bolts (1, figure 4-58) and washers(2).(3) Remove clamps (3) and tube (4) with O-ring(5).(4) Remove bolts (6) and washers (7). RemoveO-rings (8) and lift out water manifold.(5) Reinstall as follows:(a) Install new O-rings (8).(b) Attach tube (4) with new O-ring (5).(c) Install clamp (3) with bolts (1) andwashers (2).(d) Attach water manifold to engine blockwith bolts (6) and washers (7). Installnew O-rings (8).4-87. ROCKER ARM AND SHAFT ASSEMBLY. Therocker arms are mounted on the rocker arm shaft whichis supported by the rocker arm housing. The rockerarms are actuated by the pushrods and, in turn, operatethe valves.a.Inspection. (See figure 4-59)(1) Remove gear case cover (7) and gasket (6)by removing bolts and washers (4).(2) Inspect adjusting screw (1) end of rockerarm (2) and shaft (3) for evidence ofphysical damage. Refer to next highermaintenance level for replacement of anydamaged items.NOTEAdjusting screw nut be replacedwhen more than 36 inch-pounds (4joules) driving torque is required toturn screw.Figure 4-57.
