GeneratorRebuilding(400Hz). Proceed asfollows:(1) Statorcoilwindingprocedures. See figure9-5 and table 9-3, and perform the procedures pro-vided in step b (1). (2) Statordipandbake. Perform the proceduredefined in step b (2).(3) Rotor coil winding.(a) Inspect winding slots for any sharp cor-ners at edge and in slot. Clean up as necessary.(b) Examine bore and determine the direc-tion in which the broach passed through the bore.Place the leads on the end where the broach left thebore. This is so the shaft will be pressed throughthe bore in the same direction as the broach.(c) Insert slot liners (3) in the slots andposition with equal overhang of the core on each end.See figure 9-6.(d) Insert the coils in the usual manner.Position the coils as evenly as possible on each end.Consult the coil limit diagram to be sure that thetwo ends are adjusted to allow room for the connec-tions, which must be within the coil limit diagram.(e) Insert tapered edge top stick and driveinto position.(f) Make interpole and lead connections asrequired by internal connection diagram. See fig-ure 9-6.(g) Over each end, turn-wrap 20 turns ofdouble glass roving to provide banding support ofend turns.(h) With double roving, loop over the band-ing and connnections and run on continuous piece ofdouble roving over all 24 coil ends. Burn all knotswith red hot duck bill pliers.(i) Refer to table 9-4 for 400 Hz rotorwinding data.Table 9-3.
