OPERATOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS)2-2 INTRODUCTION TO OPERATOR PMCS TABLE.Table 2-2 (PMCS table) has been provided so you can keep your equipment in good operating conditionand ready for its primary mission.2-2.1 Warnings,Cautions,andNotes.Always observe the WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, and NOTESappearing in your PMCS table. Warnings and cautions appear before applicable procedures. You mustobserve WARNINGS to prevent serious injury to yourself and others. You must observe CAUTIONS toprevent your equipment from being damaged. YOU must observe NOTES to ensure procedures areperformed properly.2-2.2 ExplanationofTableEntries.2-2.2.1 ItemNo.Column. Numbers in this column are for reference. When completing DA Form 2404(Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet), include the item number for the check/serviceindicating a fault. Item numbers also appear in the order that you must do checks and services for theintervals listed.2-2.2.2 IntervalColumn.This column tells you when you must do the procedure in the procedurecolumn. “Before” procedures must be done before you operate the power plant or power unit for itsintended mission. “During” procedures must be done during the time you are operating the power plant orpower unit for its intended mission. “After” procedures must be done immediately after you have operateda power plant, immediately after shutting down one of the generator sets on a power plant, or immediatelyafter you have operated a power unit. Perform “Weekly” procedures at the listed interval.2-2.2.3 Location,ItemtoCheck/ServiceColumn. This column lists the location and the item to bechecked or serviced. The item location is underlined.2-2.2.4 ProcedureColumn.This column gives the procedure for checking or servicing the item listed inthe location, item to check/service column. You must perform the procedure to know if the power plant orpower unit is ready or available for its intended mission or operation. You must do the procedure at thetime stated in the interval column.2-2.2.5 Not Fully Mission Capable if: Column. Information in this column tells you what faults willkeep your power plant or power unit from being capable of performing its primary mission. If you makechecks or services that show faults listed in this column, do not operate the power plant or power unit.2-2.3 OtherTableEntries.Be sure to observe all special information and notes that appear in yourtable.2-2.4 SpecialInstructions.Preventive maintenance is not limited to performing the checks andservices listed in the PMCS table. Covering unused receptacles, stowing unused accessories, and otherroutine procedures such as equipment inventory, cleaning components, and touch-up painting are notlisted in the table. These are things you should do any time you see that they need to be done. If aroutine check is listed in the PMCS table, it is because experience has shown that problems may occurwith this item. Take along tools and cleaning cloths needed to perform the required checks and services.Use the information in the following paragraphs to help you identify problems at any time.2-2.4.1 TrailerPMCS.Trailer checks and services in the PMCS table are described as performed on aspecific model trailer.
