TM 5-6115-593-12TO 35C2-3-463-1CHAPTER 5AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GENERATOR SETSection I. INTRODUCTION5-1. Major auxiliary equipments for use with thegenerator set are the remote control module, the remotecontrol cable and the automatic control module. Alsoincluded as an auxiliary item is the generator sethousing kit.Section II. REMOTE CONTROL MODULE5-2. GENERAL. The remote control module (figures 5-1, 5-2, and 5-3), when used with the remote controlcable, allows remote starting and stopping, andmonitoring control of the set from a location up to 100feet (30) away. With minor exceptions, the remotecontrol module is identical to the generator controlpanel; the remote control module contains a MASTERSWITCH, a START AID switch and a READY TO LOADindicator lamp, and does not contain a clock, phasesequence indicator lights, or a 24V DC circuit breaker. The theory of operation for the remote control module isthe same as that for the generator control panel asdescribed in Chapter 1, Section III (with the above notedexceptions). When remote operation is required, thecontrols and indicators of the remote control module areconnected in place of equivalent circuits in the generatorset.5-3. INSTALLATION. The remote control module is aself-housed unit, suitable for either indoor or outdooroperation. The unit should be placed as level aspossible, in a firm, dry, footing.Allow approximately 24 inches (62 cm) clearance on allsides of the unit for access during operation andmaintenance. See paragraph 2-10 for information onthe connection procedures for the remote controlmodule, FO-8 and FO-9 for wiring information, and FO-14 for a connection diagram.5-4. LUBRICATION. The remote control modulerequires no lubrication.5-5. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS ANDSERVICES (A, N, MC). To ensure that the remotecontrol module is always ready for operation, inspectsystematically so that defects may be discovered andcorrected before they result in serious damage orfailure. Perform the preventive maintenance checks andservices in accordance with table 5-1. Air Force usersshall refer to the applicable inspection manuals andwork card sets in T.O. 35C2-3-series for periodicpreventive maintenance requirements and table 5-1 fordetailed procedures. Marine Corps users shall refer tothe current issue of TM 11275-15/1.LEGEND FOR FIGURE 5-11.Screw12.Plate assy23.Dust Cap34.Rivet2.Nut13.Screw24.Dust Cap35.Plate, wiring3.Seal14.Lockwasher25.Screw diagram4.Door assy15.Nut26.Nut36.Rivet5.Screw16.Angle27.Screw37.Plate, wiring6.Nut17.Screw28.Nutdiagram7.Lockwasher18.Lockwasher29.Screw38.Door holder8.Horn19.Nut30.Lockwasher39.Screw9.Screw20.Angle31.Nut40.Nut10.Lockwasher21.Screw32.Clamp41.Clamp11.Nut22.Nut33.Harness assy42.Enclosure5-1
