TM 5-6115-593-12TO 35C2-3-463-1WARNINGSet MAINTENANCE LOCKOUT switch toLOCKOUT. Disconnect negative cablefrom batteries. Remove external powerby opening CB101 and disconnectingpower from receptacle J101. Loadterminals of generator set circuit breaker(CB2) may still be energized with busvoltage.(1) Position circuit breaker CB1 (87,figure 4-22, sheet 2) in the ONposition.(2) At rear of panel, remove and tagleads to circuit breaker.(3) Using an ohmmeter (Rx1 scale), testbreaker for closed contacts. If meterindicates an open circuit, replacebreaker.(4) Position circuit breaker in openposition. With ohmmeter at Rx1scale, test breaker for open contacts. If meter indicates a closed circuit, replace breaker.c. Test for SPST (single-pole, single-throw)toggle switches.(1) Toggle switch to the ON position.(2) At the rear of the panel, remove onelead from the switch.(3) Using an ohmmeter (Rx1 scale), testswitch for a closed circuit. If meterindicates an open circuit, replaceswitch.(4) Toggle switch to OFF position. Usingohmmeter on Rx1 scale, test for opencircuit. If meter indicates a closedcircuit, replace switch.d. Test for SPTT (double-pole, triple-throw)toggle switches.(1) With switch in center (neutral)position, check that contacts 1-2 and5-6 have continuity. Ohmmetershould be set to Rx1 scale.(2) With switch in up (ON) position, checkthat contacts 2-3 and 5-6 havecontinuity.(3) With switch in down (OFF) position, check that contacts 1-2 and 4-5 havecontinuity.e. Test for BATTERY CHRG AMPS meter (11,figure 4-21).(1) Disconnect minus lead fromBATTERY CHRG AMPS meter M21.(2) Observing polarity, connect amultimeter (set to measure DC amps)in series with disconnected minuslead and open terminal of meter M21.(3) Meter M21 reading should be within+10 percent of multimeter reading.(4) Disconnect test equipment andreconnect lead to step (1).f. Test of ELAPSED TIME meter (8, figure 4-21). To test ELAPSED TIME meter M5,check against any time source standardsuch as a wristwatch or a wall clock. MeterM5 should be within +5 percent of timesourge.g. Test of BATTERY CHRG VOLTS (7, figure4-21). To test BATTERY CHRG VOLTSmeter M20, connect a multimeter acrossmeter M20 terminals. Meter M20 should bewithin +5 percent of multimeter reading.h. Test of ENGINE OIL TEMP meter (13,figure 4-21).(1) Disconnect negative lead fromENGINE OIL TEMP meter M2.(2) Connect one end of a precision (+1percent) 1,096-ohm resistor to openterminal of meter M2.(3) Connect positive side of 24V DCsource to the resistor connected to thepositive terminal of meter M2.(4) Connect open end of precisionresistor to minus side of 24V DCsource.4-68
