Remove nuts, lockwashers, screws and retainer (Figure 4-31).
Carefully remove dirty filter element from housing.
Do not clean air cleaner filter element in gasoline or other petroleum solvents.
Equipment damage could result if caution is not observed.
Soak and agitate filter element for 15 minutes in a solution of warm water and mild detergent.
Do not use compressed air to dry a wet filter element. Equipment damage
could result if caution is not observed.
Rinse filter element until clean and air dry for approximately 24 hours.
The filter element may also be cleaned with low pressure (40 psig MAX), filtered compressed air.
Place a light behind the cleaned filter element and check for holes, tears or other defects. Replace
if defective.
Clean interior of housing.
b. Installation.
(1) Install filter element into housing.
(2) Install retainer, screws, lockwashers, and nuts.
