TM 5-6115-593-12TO 35C2-3-463-1with guards (21 and 37) ontofront panel with mountinghardware.(d) Attach wires to switches S22and S20 (20 and 36) andremove tags.4-33. POTENTIOMETER R104 REACTIVE LOADCOMPENSATION CONTROL (47, figure 4-18).a. Test(1) Tag and unsolder leads from R104(47, figure 4-18).(2) Connect an ohmmeter (Rx1 scale toeach of the terminals on thepotentiometer.(3) Turn potentiometer slowly throughoutits range (0 to 1 ohm). Aspotentiometer is rotated, theohmmeter reading should move at thesame rate as the rotating shaft. Ifohmmeter pointer does not move, ormoves erratically the potentiometer isdefective and should be replaced.b. Replacement. Replace defectivepotentiometer (47) as follows:(1) Removal. Tag leads and removemounting hardware.(2) Installation. Install potentiometer inpanel with mounting hardware.Solder wires and remove tags.4-34. POTENTIOMETER R103 (54, FIGURE 4-17).a. Test. This potentiometer is located at the topof the governor controller assembly (56,figure 4-17).(1) Tag and unsolder leads from R103(54).(2) Connect an ohmmeter to each of theterminals on the potentiometer.(3) Turn potentiometer slowly throughoutits range (0 to 500 ohms). As thepotentiometer is rotated, the ohm-meter reading should move at thesame rate as the rotating shaft. If theohmmeter pointer does not move, ormoves erratically, the potentiometer isdefective and should be replaced.b. Replacement. Replace defectivepotentiometer (54) as follows:(1) Removal. Tag and remove wires.Remove shaftlock (55) to removepotentiometer.(2) Installation. Install potentiometer (54)and secure with shaftlock. Solderwires and remove tags.4-35. MOTOR-OPERATED POTENTIOMETERS B4(2, figure 4-19) and B5 (4, figure 4-19).Inspect motor-operated potentiometers B4 (2, figure 4-19) and B5 (4,figure 4-19) for loose connections, broken leads, cracking, or loose mounting.4-36. DC AMP SHUNT (6, figure 4-19).a. Test.(1) Connect a 0 to 30 amp DC powersupply to the terminals of the DC ampshunt (6, figure 4-19).(2) Connect a 0 to 0.10 volt DC meter tothe terminals of the DC amp shunt.(3) Increase power to 30 amps; thevoltmeter should read 0.05 volts +10percent.(4)If correct reading is not obtained, refer to next higher level ofmaintenance.4-37. RELAYS. Inspect K20, K1 and K50 relays (33,figure 4-17 and 7 and 18, figure 4-19) respectively forloose mounting, loose connections, cracking, ordamaged castings.4-38. HARNESS ASSEMBLY.WARNINGSet MAINTENANCE LOCKOUT switch toLOCKOUT. Disconnect negative cablefrom batteries. Remove external powerby opening CB101 (120V RECEPTACLEBREAKER). Load terminals of generatorset circuit breaker (CB2) may still beenergized with bus voltage.4-57
