INSTALLATION.a.General. The generator set shouldbe installed on a level site, clear ofobstacles, and with ampleventilation. Site must be within 100feet (30 m) of any generator set tobe paralleled with, and 24 feet (7.3m) of any auxiliary fuel supply, and1000 feet (300 m) of any remotecontrol area. Refer to intermediate(Field) (Direct and General Support)and Depot Maintenance Manual,Chapter 17, for general installationpractices.b.OutdoorInstallation.When preparing fora permanent installation, be sure that thebase is solid enough to support the weightof the unit. See figure 4-6 for dimensionsof the generator set. Select a locationwhere there will be sufficient space on allsides for service and operation for theengine generator set. When preparing atemporary installation, move the enginegenerator set as close to the worksite aspractical.
